National Day Of Action

On Saturday 20 November, members of the branch gathered in Rochester High Street to take part in the European Movement’s National Day of Action. The theme was “Brexit Isn’t Working”. The members were Peter Daws, the branch’s Acting Chair, Derrick Cripps, Acting Treasurer, and Nico Kerr, Acting Membership Secretary. They engaged with the passing public, handing out the EMUK’s leaflet and inviting them to express their feelings about how Brexit is going.

We erected our “Brexitometer” and invited passers-by to answer four simple questions by sticking a smiley face in one of the three columns: Yes, No, Not Sure. The questions were:
- In the past few days have you noticed:
- Food shortages in shops?
- Cost of everyday items going up?
- Is Brexit helping to address the Climate Emergency?
- Is Brexit Working?
You an see from the picture above, that the majority were of the clear opinion that Brexit isn’t working.
